Odyssey International School offers English as an Additional Language (EAL) to students who are new to English as a language of instruction or who have learned in English before but still require some extra help to fully access the curriculum. 

• In-class EAL is given to those with limited support needs who can benefit from help in some language areas but can follow the class mostly unaided. This method of language instruction means that language learning takes place in context and directly supports the material being studied at any given time.
• Pull-out EAL lessons are for children with more substantial needs and can take place either in small groups or on a one-to-one basis. Vocabulary for these classes is also linked to the curriculum in other areas of learning wherever possible.
  

The school will inform parents of their child’s EAL needs and will explain why a decision has been made. EAL support is mandatory if deemed necessary by the school.
