Holding a Master's in Education from Rouen University, she has built an impressive career across language centers, universities, and international schools, from Huế to Hội An and even Mongolia. Drawing on her extensive experience in Primary and Secondary coordination, as well as her involvement in Senior Leadership, Amélie's unwavering commitment to student well-being led her to obtain a Safeguarding Leader certification. Amélie has been integral to Odyssey International School since its inception, driven by her belief in creating an educational environment that fosters active student participation and respectful communication. Her dedication and expertise have been invaluable in shaping the school's vision and ensuring student success.
Elissa Wessley is an experienced Australian Early Years and Primary teacher. She first visited Hoi An in 2010 and, after several trips, fell in love with the town, eventually relocating from Brisbane, Australia. For the past 9 years, Elissa has been employed as a teacher at an International School in Hoi An, and she is proud to be part of the community, hoping to continue calling this beautiful location her home.Elissa has enjoyed teaching many international students over the years, cherishing the bonds built with them, nurturing their strengths, and witnessing their growth. She deeply values her relationships with their families and the connections created within our community. With 13 years of teaching experience in Australia and 9 years abroad, Elissa is also a Reading Recovery specialist, equipped to assist students who are challenged by their literacy skills. During his time teaching in Australia, Europe and Asia he has been able to create fun and educational environments where students feel safe, valued and can enjoy their learning. Maxine's career path began in the UK, where she qualified as both a teacher and social worker, working with children for many years before relocating to Australia for the past 30 years. Holding a Master of Educational Studies from the University of Queensland, Maxine has considerable experience in teaching, counseling, and supporting students of diverse abilities and backgrounds. She specializes in behavior management, special and inclusive needs, and guidance and counseling, making her a crucial member of our team focused on student well-being.Maxine firmly believes in nurturing students' full potential, both academically and as future global citizens. Grounded in core literacy and numeracy skills, her approach encourages students to become motivated, engaged critical thinkers capable of working independently and collaboratively. Siana grew up in Bournemouth, England and spent four years in Liverpool, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology. Over the past year, she has dedicated her time to volunteering throughout Southeast Asia, engaging in environmental activities and teaching. Since moving to Hoi An and obtaining a TOEFL certification, Siana has been sharing the joys of English and the world of art with kindergarten and primary students. Siana fosters curiosity, encourages creativity, and emphasizes problem-solving skills, inspiring her students to become independent thinkers. Her engaging approach and passion for education have made a positive impact on the young minds in her care. Thuy was born in the beautiful city of Hoi An. As a lifelong learner, Thuy continuously challenges herself and remains curious to expand her skill set. After graduating from Da Nang Foreign Language University - Pedagogical University in 2004, she has pursued additional certifications, including an HR qualification and training in Children's Safety.Thuy's professional experience is both diverse and extensive. She has worked in international school environments, where her responsibilities have included teaching Vietnamese, co-teaching at both the primary and secondary levels, and managing the school's bus system. Furthermore, Thuy's valuable skill set has led her to take on additional roles as an administrative officer and support staff member, playing a vital role in maintaining the smooth operation of our school.Thuy's dedication, adaptability, and breadth of experience have made her an essential member of the school community. Vinh coming from the province of Daklak, our librarian is a joyful member of our school. Vinh always has the right words and she never fails to bring smiles and happiness to both teachers and students.In charge of our school library, Vinh has organized it in a way that instills a genuine love of reading in our students, making it an appealing and inviting space. Firmly believing that books should be in the hands of children from the youngest age, Vinh actively encourages them to read and borrow books.Beyond her role as a librarian, Vinh is a flexible and talented primary co-teacher, supporting our students' learning. She graduated from University with a Early Childhood Pedagogy Certificate. Tay is a critical member of our school team. He has spent many years as a school groundsman, and utilising his experience, he maintains all aspects of our school. Tay is dedicated to his work and to our school. He knows all our students by name and is greatly involved in the life of our school. Tay has a passion for sustainability and has created many wonderful resources for us from recyclable materials. He is very concerned about the welfare of our students, has undertaken CPR and first aid training, and is aware of all safeguarding procedures. Thao is a passionate cook with a lot of experience in cooking for international children. She loves to discover, try and learn new recipes. Her cookingis a mix of Vietnamese and Western dishes , she loves to make the studentsdiscover different tastes. Thao is very caring, she holds a first-aidand safeguarding certificate like all the staff, to ensure that ourstudents are safe in any area of the school. She can call every student andstaff by their names , knows everyone's allergies , diets or even eating preferences!
Quyen, originally from Hanoi, made the decision to move after completing her MBA, drawn by the warmth of the people and the serene atmosphere of her new surroundings. She began working at the school right at the start of the academic year, and from day one, her care and commitment to the students, staff, and school environment have been unmistakable. Quyen’s dedication shines through in everything she does, creating a positive and nurturing atmosphere that benefits everyone around her.
Bong has a very smiley and kind heart. He lives in Dien Ban , Quang Nam with his young family. Bong holds different certifications including Graphics and Multimedia Art design, Network which he really enjoys, and System Engineer. Since joining our team, Bông has proven to be an invaluable asset, consistently demonstrating patience, kindness, and flexibility in his interactions with both staff and students. His willingness to lend a helping hand and offer support has earned him high regard among his colleagues and the student body. Bong's positive attitude and genuine care for the well-being of those around him have made him a beloved figure within our school community.
Shannon comes from Australia and has been living and teaching in Vietnam since 2018. She holds an Honours degree in Creative Arts (Theatre) and postgraduate Teaching qualifications in Drama and English, as well as TESOL certification and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Shannon has taught Theatre, English (EAL ; Language & Arts) and Global Perspectives classes, both online and in person, to students from diverse backgrounds for the last 30 years, andeven had her own Drama School in Australia. Classes with Shannon concentrate on nurturing the creativity, collaboration, communication and critical thinking skills necessary for life in the 21 st century and beyond.
Sarah is a dedicated and passionate educator who has been nurturing young minds for over 20 years. Born in Kenya and raised in Zimbabwe, she has spent the last 10 years teaching in Asia. Holding a degree in Early Childhood Education, she is deeply committed to the foundational years of children's learning and development. Her pedagogical approach is rooted in care, respect, and nurturing each child's unique potential, creating a supportive and stimulating environment where curiosity is encouraged and progress is celebrated. Watching her students grow and learn new things each day brings her great joy, as she fosters a love for learning that will last a lifetime. Dan is a dedicated educator with thirteen years of classroom experience in Canada and Vietnam, he is committed to building a safe and inclusive learning environment. Dan holds different teaching degrees from Canada including a Bachelor of Education. He aims to inspire ambition and promote self-efficacy, helping students exceed their own expectations. Dan's approach combines strong rapport, high expectations, firm boundaries, and consistent encouragement. Outside the classroom, he's a Toronto Raptors fan, and a chess and quiz enthusiast. Dan enjoys exploring different cultures through food and travel, and shares his life with his wife Marina and their dogs, Omar and Carlos. He is excited to join the team at Odyssey and contribute to our students' intellectual and personal growth.
